Gotion High-Tech plans to invest 65,000 million dirhams in Morocco in the 1st Gigafactory in Africa.

The Chinese-European group Gotion High-Tech and the Moroccan State signed a memorandum of understanding on May 31, 2023, to define the general lines of a Gigafactory project and its integrated ecosystem in Morocco for the production of batteries for electric vehicles and systems of energy storage. The project would be located in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, in the municipality of Bouknadel.

Through this association, the Kingdom plans to join forces with a key player in the renewable energy and electric mobility sector, which has the Volkswagen automotive group as its reference shareholder.
